Jun 16,  · I might find much of this album weird and messy but this song, and "Entrance", are awesome and very likeable! "Tobacco Road" is a radically different take on the blues. Before playing Entrance I made the mistake in thinking I recognized Edgar Winter's version from somewhere but no, I'd remember THIS version!/5(22).

Edgar Winter came out of the chute kicking with this remarkable record filled with jazz, blues, and a little old-fashioned rock & roll. The record follows an established theme throughout its first side, stringing the songs together without breaks, highlighted by dreamy keyboard and sax work, plus Winter 's smooth vocalizations.9/

Digitally remastered edition. The debut album by Edgar Winter, Entrance, offers a preview of the stylistic mix that would typify his career - blending jazz and blues with down and dirty rock & roll. Highlights include Jump Right Out, co-written with brother, Johnny.
  6. Digis says:
This album is what The Blues Brother's aspired to, but fell woefully short of. A good mix of Blues, R&B, and Rock. Edgar is fantastic on the keys, the horn players are second to none. Rick Derringer's solo on Tobacco Road is fantastic, just a great picture into the early 70's/5().
  7. Donris says:
The song became a hit for Edgar Winter on his debut album Entrance and he plays a minute live version of the song on the double LP Roadwork from "Tobacco Road" has been performed by a great number of other artists, often with slightly altered lyrics.
  8. Vir says:
Highlights include Winter's vocals and virtuoso keyboard work, plus the guitar stylings of Rick Derringer. The longest track on the album was the band's own version of the John D. Loudermilk song, " Tobacco Road ", which lasted over .
