Apr 02,  · referencing Mutima, LP, Album, This is a real trip. Starting with a long solo piece on a bowed bass. Improvised and almost Free-Jazz. The next two tracks on side 1 get more structured. And on side 2 it developes into more conventional Hard-Bop. The last track is almost Jazz-Rock underlayed by McBee´s now electric bass/5().
  6. Naramar says:
McBee as a pure musician has staggering technique, rich harmonic ideas, and an indefatigable swing, but it is as a composer that he is set apart from other musicians of this mid-'70s era. "Life Waves" is a stunning piece of composed and improvised music, with a brief clarion horn section setting off McBee 's chordal strumming and harp bop drive.
  7. Brara says:
This early important work from composer/bassist extraordinaire Cecil McBee enjoys a welcome reissue via the Pure Pleasure record label. Recorded in on the independent New York based Strata-Eas Missing: Life Waves.
  8. Gotaur says:
Recorded in for Strata East ‘Mutima’ is at times free, abstract, expressive and spiritual. ‘Voice of The 7th Angel’ is a shimmering spiritual number, ‘From Within’ is abstract and sparse with Eastern influences while ‘A Feeling’ journeys through several stylistic landscapes.
